Python St. Louis User Group

Welcome to the Python St. Louis User Group. The focus of our group is Python - a simple, but powerful, Open Source programming language. We also work with Jython (an implementation of Python written in Java) and Zope (a web application server written in Python). If you program in Python, or would like to learn this wonderful language, you should join our group.

Feel free to contact Patrick O'Brien at pobrien@orbtech.com or 314-963-3206 with any questions concerning the group, membership, upcoming meetings, or anything Python-related.

"The joy of coding Python should be in seeing short, concise, readable classes that express a lot of action in a small amount of clear code -- not in reams of trivial code that bores the reader to death." -- Guido van Rossum, creator of Python

Membership

Membership is free and open to anyone with an interest in Python, Jython or Zope.

Meetings

Meetings are held regularly in the St. Louis, MO area. Details are available on the PystlEvents page.

Mailing Lists

Members keep in contact with each other through a couple of mailing lists. Information on subscribing and unsubscribing can be found on the PystlMailingLists page.

Mentoring

Many of our members are new to Python, so we created a special mentoring program to help members learn Python from more experienced members in a collaborative and supportive environment. We have a separate email discussion list, specifically for mentors and mentorees; we provide additional learning opportunities at our regular meetings, as well as special training events; and we have an extensive library of Python programming books. See the PystlMentorProgram page for more details.

Library

The Python St. Louis User Group is a member of both the New Riders and O'Reilly user group programs. As such, we receive books for review by our members. We also have a good selection of books on loan from individual member's personal collections. PySTL Members may check out books at one of our meetings, or by request from the group librarian. See the PystlLibrary page for more details, including a complete list of our books, the availability status of each book, and member book reviews.

Projects

The Python St. Louis User Group maintains a repository of Open Source programs created by it members. The repository is hosted on SourceForge. You can learn more about this project on the PystlSourceForge page. Any PySTL member with a SourceForge account can be given developer access to the CVS repository.
